BBQ on the Shoreline
Summertime calls for easygoing days filled with good food and great friends, and for us BBQ is the perfect accompaniment. Smoked meats, delicious sides, and yes, sometimes sauce stained shirts. Porky Pete’s BBQ and Chester’s BBQ are two of our favorite BBQ joints on the Connecticut Shoreline.
Essex
Porky Pete’s BBQ
Porky Pete’s offers authentic southern Bar-B-Que on the Connecticut shoreline. Come in and you’ll find that it almost tastes as if the southern hospitality is grilled into the sandwich.
Groton
Chester’s BBQ
Chester’s understands that there’s no shortcuts to great BBQ and they’ve made it their mission to stay authentic to the craft. All of their meats are seasoned overnight and smoked low and slow for up to 16 hours.
There’s no sweeter way to celebrate the Fourth of July on the Connecticut shoreline than with Ina Garten’s beloved Flag Cake. We recreated the classic with a few local twists—including fresh-picked berries and shoreline party tips.
