Summer To-Do List

Each season we create a list of new experiences to try, with the simple goal of exploring
the best of the Shoreline.

Buy ice cream locally

Summer is here, so let’s hear it! I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. Nothing ends a great summer day than ice cream. Thankfully the Shoreline offers some of the best, locally made options available.

Make a splash

With 618 miles of coastline in the state of Connecticut, the Shoreline the perfect place for a day at the beach.

Wear more sunscreen

To ensure you enjoy every salt filled moment of summer, Jennie Fresa of Copal Clean Beauty and Jennie Fresa Wellness & Beauty Coaching in Madison, CT curated a collection of her favorite clean beauty must-haves for your next trip to the shore.

Make s’mores

From SMORSTiX in Madison, once you bite into a hot, juicy pineapple in the middle of all the rich sweetness around it, you’ll get it.

Ride a bike

One of my favorite aspects of Madison is it’s transition from secluded wooded backroads to some of the most beautiful beaches on the Shoreline, making it the perfect place for a scenic bike ride. Stop downtown for supplies and then explore the many beautiful spots to enjoy a picnic, the beach or just a good book in the shade.

Pick fresh berries

The abundance of local farms and fresh produce is one of the best aspects of the Shoreline community. Being able to pick your own fruit, vegetables and flowers makes this time of year the perfect time to enjoy the many local and family owned farms that line the coast here in Connecticut. Strawberry picking is just beginning - so head to your local orchard or farm to get some while the pickin's good!

Read outside

As anyone knows, one of the best things about living on the Shoreline is a great day at the beach. And that it’s only made better by a great read. That’s why we’ve collected our favorite Americana books to enjoy seaside.
